Garden variety...

Here are a couple more pages made with the April kit from Hip 2 Be Square Scrapbooking!
On this first layout, I was inspired by the little blue ribbon chipboard (Garden Variety by Cosmo Cricket). It reminded me of the county fair that we went to this summer, and these cute pics of Kati eating a snow cone. I think this might have been her first one! They all had blue tongues and laughed and laughed about it!
I cut my own heart and title from the red cardstock (drew it out with a pencil and then cut around it). It's not perfect, but I like the punch that the red adds!
"Chasing the Chicks" was inspired by all the little chicks in the chipboard that came in the add-on kit. I had a bunch of farm photos from one time we were home visiting my family and stopped at Old MacDonald's Farm. The chickens were running loose and Kati was chasing them everywhere. Pretty funny! We were looking through the photos and reminiscing. Hard to believe it's been almost 2 years since then! They also have pig races and one of the pig's names is "Bar-B-Q". lol
I added the paper doily that I sprayed with Sunshine Glimmer Mist. The cute flowers are Sassafras Lass. I always have to add something swirly or pretty to my work. I don't know..it's a sickness! :)
Oooh, and I have something exciting to show you later this week! Another new line coming out soon by one of my favorite manufacturers! :) :)

Monochromatic Monday...

Good morning! Today was my day to do a "Monochromatic Monday" over at the Pink Paislee blog.

When I began my project, I was worried this was going to be a tough challenge, but it was actually fun to try and come up with a one-color scheme. I found that when working with a monochromatic scheme, it is best to add a lot of texture and pattern for more interest. I used a variety of stamps, rub ons, ribbon flowers, patterned paper and cork buttons. Also, creating with a nuetral color scheme can create a very sophisticated, elegant look ~ great for anniversary, wedding and elegant birthday cards!

Supplies used:
Queen Bee stamp set, silver and white cardstock, white grosgrain ribbon, Bayberry Cottage - Front Porch paper (houndstooth), Bayberry Cottage - 6x6" Paper Pad (small houndstooth circles), Bayberry Cottage Press Ons, Bayberry Cottage Cork Buttons, and Expressions Glitter Alphabet - Licorice.

Thanks for visiting today!

Bee happy...

This month I was asked to guest design for Hip 2 Be Square Scrapbooking's April kit... it's a fun mix of American Crafts, Cosmo Cricket and My Mind's Eye products! Here are a few cards that I've done so far. Love the colors in this kit...so happy!

On this next card, I drew out very quickly the honeycomb pattern with a pencil and then stitched over it with machine stitching. I didn't try to get it to look perfect, it's kind of fun just messy like that with the loose strings and such. :) I cut the card shape around the pattern after the stitching was done. The bee journaling card was square, but I didn't want it to cover too much of the stitching, so I cut it down a bit and rounded the right edge of it.

"Berry Sweet" card... layered some stickers from the sticker sheet and made little leaves from the green cardstock...
On the friend card, I printed the saying on the Cosmo journaling card with my computer and misted a paper doily with Sunshine Glimmer Mist. I like to get the paper doilies from AC Moore in the baking section, but you can order them in bulk on-line too!
I'll be back tomorrow with a Pink Paislee project! Thanks for visiting! :)

Queen Bee cards...

Good morning! What is on the agenda for today? I have a TON to do...mailing, laundry, errands and projects galore that are due soon! Always busy, busy! :) I thought spring was on the way, but we got a dusting of snow last night again. Ick!

I wanted to share the 5 cards that we made in the Queen Bee class last weekend! I do have about 5 of these kits left. If you purchase the kit, you'll get instructions and photos to create these 5 cards. But...feel free to buy it as a layout kit if you are not a card person! All papers are 12" x 12".

These kit are available here. You will have a ton left over even after making these 5 cards! I didn't end up using the ribbon pleats or the cork buttons on these, but they ARE included in the kits. Also, you get a little pack of my ribbon flowers free with any purchase.

Thanks so much. Enjoy your weekend!! XO

Greens, blues and yellows...

With spring on the way, I'm inspired by a fresh springy color palette lately!

Here is another page made with the 365 Degrees kit. I had a hard time getting a photo of this page with the white background, it is really brighter in person! I used the Artistan Tapes at the top of the page, and layered some new Artisan Swirls misted with Glimmer Mist under the title! In class, we cut the leaves and made the flower from crepe paper and then misted them with Olive Vine Glimmer Mist.

This line works really well with vacation or beach photos, or even spring and summer pics. These were taken one weekend when we took the girls to the park and out to eat. I used Graphite Glimmer Mist in the background and kept the top clean and neat for a nice contrast.

You also get the blue weathered chipboard letters and yummy new cork buttons with this kit!
Grab one here!
Oh, and I wanted to share one more thing before I go...someone brought it to my attention that I'm a cover girl! Look HERE! I've never had anything on a cover of a magazine before. Not my favorite card that I've ever made, but very exciting for me! Thanks for listening to my excitement! :)

Yummy new Pink Paislee...

Thank you so much for your purchases of my kits, I appreciate it so very much! The mini album kit is now sold out, but I have a few of the other kits left.

I wanted to pop in and show you a page that I made with the 365 Degrees layout kit...
See the gorgeous swirl? That is from the new Artisan Swirls by Pink Paislee and they JUST arrived in the warehouse this week! You can paint it or ink it, mist it, whatever you'd like. Here I just left it plain, because it's so pretty just like that, but feel free to do whatever your heart desires. You get a full sheet of these to work with. Everything on this page is in the kit HERE!

My daughter has been through so much with surgeries and medicines, and I just wanted to write her a note about how strong she is and how much I admire that. She always believes in herself no matter what, and is always courageous, strong and confident. I know it will bring her great things as she gets older!

One more sneak...

How is your Friday going? I am cleaning and catching up with laundry today, it's never ending. I hate to complain, but yes - laundry is my least favorite chore. Maybe because I leave it too long and it gets overwhelming!

Anyway, I had to take a time out from the chores to pop in and show you something that I'm super excited about! This is one of the pages that we will be doing in the Jenni Bowlin class in Danbury, CT on Friday, March 19th! We'll work with banners, misting and create fabric flowers. I will also show you how to create my ribbon roses on another 2-pager that we are going to do. Hope you'll join me! I will be teaching 3 classes on Saturday also.
Contact Lasting Memories for more information.
More heritage photos on here! These are my great grandparents, my mother's grandparents. I believe the photo was probably taken in the 20's or 30's, not sure. I just love these pics and cherish them so! Now you don't have to scrap heritage pics during the class, bring whatever photos you would like to scrap!

See you soon,
Danielle

All dressed up...

Over at Studio Calico today, we were discussing our love for all the scrapbooking products we have. And that maybe we have too many products in our stashes? People who don't scrapbook don't seem to understand why we have so much stuff. That's when a member named "amyjk" chimed in with this:

I am a proud owner of stuff...
stuff that I use to make cards that help me keep in touch, send comfort and love,
stuff that I use to pay tribute to friends and loved ones and their impact on my life,
stuff that I use to tell the stories that I want to remember forever,
stuff that I use to exercise my creativity and spend time relaxing, playing and exploring,
stuff that I use to bless others so that they too can be creative.
What I get out of my stuff is priceless to me!

How perfectly said. I just love it.  If I could have put into words how I felt about all that "stuff" I have, that is what I would have said! Just wanted to share that with you! So...don't  feel bad about all the STUFF you have! :)

I made one more page with my March kit from Jenni Bowlin. The background cardstock was sanded by me to show the raised design (new by Core'dinations). Also used new Jenni Bowlin Homespun papers, chipboard and pins, and I used Studio Calico sticker letters from last month's kit. I see that the March kit is all sold out, however the project kit and add-on kit are still available. You can sign up for a monthly membership if you'd like at the link above.
Kati still loves to dress up and get all girly. I so adore her! Such a little sweetheart. I never want these sweet days to end. I love how her arms still have that baby fat with dimples in her elbows and how soft and smooth her skin is. Still reminds me of that little baby she once was. The time is flying by MUCH too fast. She'll be 5 in June and off to Kindergarten soon. Sigh.
This is the sketch that inspired me to create this page and is from the new sketch book by Pencil Lines! How cool is that! I flipped the sketch and used butterflies instead of the flowers.

Well, I'm off to watch American Idol! I have been missing it due to my DVR not working right. Can't miss it again! lol

XO,
Danielle

LOVE, love...

... the Queen Bee line. Seriously. Can you tell? :)

Do you have heritage photos you'd like to have a special place to store? I've created a layout that is also a pocket to hold some old photos that my mom has given me of my ancestors. I really love the colors in the Queen Bee line by Pink Paislee and think they work wonderfully with these old photos.

To create the folder, I cut the Honeycomb (brown) paper a bit longer and a bit wider than the Honeybee (yellow). At the top, I folded the brown paper over about 1-2 inches. I laid the yellow polkadot paper over the base paper and machine stitched around the edges to create the pocket. (Don't stitch the top closed.) You can create a clasp to hold the flap down with the Bella Brads. Adhere one brad to the flap and one to the front piece. Tie together with twine. The doily is a paper doily that I found in the baking section of AC Moore, and I cut a piece of Beehive paper to dress up the flap as well.

The Queen Bee frame stamp is stamped on the Beehive paper and cut out. I added some of the Queen Bee rub ons next to the photo. A tip with the rub ons: cut them into any shape you want! Here I just cut a small rectangle, but you could cut it into a circle or star shape before adding it to your page. The flower was made with crepe paper.

Here are some of the old photos I am going to put inside. They are all families of my great grandparents. Love looking at these, there are so many interesting details. A picture is worth a thousand words! Funny to think that I was created from these people! (well, you know what I mean) :)
Thanks for taking a peek today!

Tattered Angels teams up with Fancy Pants...

This month the Tattered Angels team is working with Fancy Pants (papers, transparencies and rub ons) to go with our Tattered Angels supplies. Here are a few things I created. I received the Little Sprout line by Michelle Coleman to work with.

Here I layered a transparency over the patterned paper and then the photo of my daughter on top. I like how the text gives some interest to the background and it was quick and easy! I sprayed the new Tattered Angels chipboard framed fonts (these are Tattered Traveler - Postage Stamp Embossed chip letters) with Sunshine Glimmer Mist. The little black and white circle at the top is Tattered Angels also. It's new by Heidi Swapp and is called Rock'n Renaissance Mist-a-Bles Paper Elements. I chose to leave it white so it would stand out against the colors. "Little one" is a rub on by Fancy Pants.

Isn't she sweet? Only a day old here! How I miss those days, they went by like a blur.
Journaling says, "My heart has grown by leaps and bounds in just one day."
Next, another baby page. I LOVED the "new baby" rub on and thought it would look great on the graph background paper (which is lime green, but for some reason it looks yellow in my photo).
I used a chipboard page from my 6x6 Tab Album by Clear Scraps to anchor the photo and added a little bit of misting on it for interest! I misted over a Decorative Corners - Regal Collection Glimmer Screen with Coffee Shop Glimmer Mist.
I created some ribbon flowers for my page, a little bit of leftover fabric for the leaves and then I used 2 little photo corners together to create a butterfly. The photo corner butterfly was sprayed with Candlelight Glimmer Mist. I wanted the photo corners to be really light, so I gave them a light dusting of the mist. If you want deeper color, you can drench it more and reapply the mist as well a couple of times to make it darker.
Last is a card that I made with 3 of the journaling cards to form a tri-fold card. The Tattered Traveler frame is sprayed with Caribbean Blue Glimmer Mist, the letters were painted white, and I stamped the postcard and postage stamp from the Timeless Romance Clear Stamps by Tattered Angels.
A big thank you to Fancy Pants for giving us the chance to work with your fun papers!
Danielle
