soft and shabby...

Melissa Frances has a new line out this month called 5th Avenue designed by Sherelle Christensen, and it's so soft and beautiful. Check out their blog for your chance to win this line and to see all the lovelies, papers, projects made with it, etc!
Today I thought I would show you some things I made with this new line. This is a little layout about my love for all things shabby and pretty - crochet, architectural details, handmade flowers, twine, pearls, etc. I took pictures of some things I loved and then printed them out in 2x2" squares.

The pockets are Melissa Frances as well - I tucked photos into them and shabbied them up a bit with paint, stitching and a rub on.

This next one is a fun layout of my daughter Kati. I die cut a bunch of butterflies with my Sizzix and went to town on this one, not really trying to get it perfect...just having fun with it. I still want to add some journaling strips above the ric rac.

This little girl is very much made of wings. She is definitely an angel from above. These pictures were taken a few weeks ago of Kati when she was playing dress up! :)

Last is a 10 page mini album I made with the smaller envelope and tags mini album by Melissa Frances! It's called "10 Blessings" and I scrapped one thing on each page that I feel blessed for in my life. *Edited to add: This album was sold as a kit at CHA, so I needed to remove the inside pages from my gallery. I apologize for the incovenience.*

I have more to share with you tomorrow.... some Jenni Bowlin projects made with the Feb. kits that go on sale Feb. 1st! Have a beautiful day!

I love you to pieces.

I love all things hearts lately!
Chipboard hearts, punched hearts. You name it. I love them all!

Today for my blog post over at Jenni Bowlin, I was trying to think of some cute sayings for Valentine's cards when this saying popped into my head. That was my inspiration for the card. I found a chipboard heart in my JB stash and cut it into 3 pieces, then covered it with the new mini papers from the new Be Our Guest line by Jenni Bowlin.

The sentiment was printed onto the card base with my printer before I added the calendar die cut and heart. The little rose was made using Jenni's crepe paper. I twisted it into a flower shape, then adhered it over one of Jenni's buttons. I love the sunny colors against the clean white background! To me, it feels warm and shabby, yet clean and happy.
Are you working on any Valentine's cards? I would love to see them!
Thanks for peeking today,
Danielle

Jenni Bowlin supplies used: Die Cut Mini Paper Pad- Calendar, Be Our Guest Mini Papers, Crepe Paper - Red, Stick Pin - Shell, Chipboard Heart, Printed Tickets - Valentine's, Vintage Sew-on Button - White, Other: white cardstock, Typewriter font, seam binding.

the best for last?

This is the last new collection coming out this month by Pink Paislee! It's called Daily Junque. Tell me what you think about this one? I am in love with the colors and all the little typewriter sayings! Be sure to stop over to the Pink Paislee blog once again for your chance to win this line!
I didn't get a chance to work with this one yet, but I can't wait to try the tissue paper, fun chalkboard stickers and check out those neat flowers!
 ------------------------------
I did get the A- OK to begin sharing all of my creations, so I'll show you my other 2 cards made with the Soiree line:

I used the little sticks as candles instead of adding the pennants to them like some of the other girls did. I made little flames out of the tissue paper. "You're Invited" is from the Soiree stamp set. Lots of fun twine colors included with this line!
This one is a little more shabby. I painted the laser cut chipboard teapot with the new Heidi Swapp Glimmer Glaze called Waterfall. It looks very blue in the bottle, but it's really more of a teal color. I thought it would be pretty with yellow and white, so I made my own vellum envelope, brushed some white paint over the top and added some stamping.
I used the swirl stamp for the steam on the teapot!
Don't be afraid to layer ink colors when stamping. First, I stamped the pink flowers and let that dry, then I used black StazOn ink for the text stamp over the top!

I'll be back very soon with more projects! Thanks so much for stopping by. For those of you going to CHA, have fun!!

Pink Paislee peek #3...

Let's have a Soiree! This is Pink Paislee's new and super FUN party line! Awesome for birthday cards and such! Stop over to Pink Paislee today for your chance to win and to see all of the neat embellies coming out with this line. (Soiree is pronounced swah-rey if you were wondering!) :)

A couple of things I made with it so far...this card uses the stickers, new pins, stamps and twine! Eeek! These colors make me happy!

The next card is actually a pocket card, which I cut in a swoopie shape to match the shape of the YUMMY banner chipboard!! I added some of Pink Paislee's new tissue paper around the circular sticker and trimmed it with my scissors, then crumpled it up to make it all crazy and fun. It's attached to a tag that pulls out.

I painted the banner chipboard white and did some stamping on it!
So, what do you think? It just keeps getting better and better, right? I think she saved the best for last. Tune in tomorrow to see a line I think everyone will like a lot. :)

Pink Paislee peek #2...

Sneak peek week...

I have so much to show you, so let's get this party started!

First off, today Pink Paislee is debuting their new Butterfly Garden line HERE on the Pink Paislee blog! Run over and leave a note to win a Butterfly Garden prize pack! My favorite things about this line are the stamps:
...the rub ons...
...and the little wood veneer shapes!

I was asked to make a little 9x12" collage for the booth at CHA - well actually 2 collages -so here are some little peeks:

I layered some different colors of stamping here on this tag. Below, I painted the wooden shape white and added a bit of paint to the clear layered butterfly. What do you think of the ephemera tags?
More layers of goodies here. The polkadot paper is my fave! These are all the 6x6" papers, by the way, but the prints do some larger in the 12x12".
Here I used a tag, a quote I printed out and a half rub on over the top! I did some stamping along the edge.
What do you think of this line? If you are looking for brighter colors...wait til you see the rest of the lines!

Oh, and see the color on the wood shape above? It's a new color made just for Pink Paislee by Heidi Swapp! Super fun...you open the bottle and there is a little paintbrush inside...just like painting your nails. I used it here too. First I stamped, then colored it in with the new color!

OK, I better stop now before I show you too much and get in trouble. Let me know what you think! :)

a sprinkle of this and a dash of that....

I have a couple more Kitschy Kitchen things to show you, the first is a layout that I made with the Kitschy Kitchen tags. I laid them out and arranged them to fit around my photos, then added some details to each one. We bought our girls new aprons one day, so Kati had to put hers to good use when we got home, making Playdoh cookies and other creations. :)

I felt the layout needed a little bit of punch, so I added some red cardstock circles. The stitching in "cook" was totally inspired by one of the rub ons! I drew out the stem and leaves and then hand stitched over the top.
This little tag has some white paint under the rub on to let the rub on show up a little better!

Next is a "Grandmas are Great" card. When I think of recipes, cooking and divine food, I think of my grandmas! I so miss the days when I was little and going to visit them for the holidays. So many good times and yummy meals.
I love, love these cute little pockets by Melissa Frances. They come in 3 sizes, but this is the mini one. I jazzed it up with some paint, a sticker, a little strip of the 6x6 paper and a rub on saying from the Kitschy Kitchen set on the tag.
Someone had asked about the red ribbon. It is actually seam binding that I purchased at www.zipperstop.com, then I cut a piece off of the roll and sprayed with it with Glimmer Mist. This mist color is called Candy Apple Red and is made Tattered Angels. Just spray and turn it over, keep doing that until you've covered the whole piece. Scrunch it up and let it dry (or you can hurry the process by using your heat gun)! Your fingers will get messy, but it's certainly a fun process!

Have you seen...

..the Kitschy Kitchen line by Melissa Frances? I love the little touches of red! I just think it's seriously cute. I wanted to show you that even though it's a "kitchen" line, it can be used for so many more things besides that! Here I made a little girl tea party invitation:

I used the 6x6 papers, die cuts, stickers, rub ons and the Melissa Frances crepe paper here.
A cute little Valentine card:

Lollipops are made from the Melissa Frances crepe paper and wrapped in twine! I've used the Kitschy Kitchen die cuts and rub on saying!
A "Made With Love" card that you could attach to any gift....
These are the 6x6 papers from the Kitschy Kitchen paper pad, chipboard, tags and rub ons.
I've got SO much more to show you that I don't even know where to start! LOL I've been a busy girl.

Would you like a teeny, tiny little peek to the next new Melissa Frances line? :)
Speaking of Melissa Frances, I've had some questions as to where the best place is to buy Melissa Frances products on-line. I have 2 favorite stores that carry MANY of these products. One is The Scrappy Gourmet and the other is Emma's Paperie. They always seem to have the latest from this company, and both have excellent customer service! :)

I love love love your layouts! And I have never tried Glue Arts, but this would be the perfect opportunity to give them a whirl! :)

             --------------------------------------------------

Congrats, Laurie! You will love Glue Arts, I promise. Some people asked what my favorite thing from Glue Arts is. I have a few favorites. My first love is their Extreme Adhesive Squares! I use these to adhere buttons to my page, chipboard, and anything heavy or bulky. I used to use Glue Dots, but these are way stickier. Awesome! And you know how I love to add dimension. :) I think you actually get more in this package for your money than a package of Glue Dots anyway.

My second favorite product by Glue Arts is the U Cut It Foam Dimensional Adhesive. These are like Pop Dots except it comes in sheets, so you can cut as big of a piece as you need or as little as you need. I use this daily to pop up layers on my cards and layouts.

And you can't forget the Glue Glider Pro tape runner and PermaTac refills to go inside. These are a staple as well.

Thank you all for the sweet comments. I read each and every one of them and appreciate you stopping by. I wish I could give you all a Glue Arts gift card!

Hugs,
Danielle

a give-away...snow fun!

Thank you all so much for your kind comments! I appreciate your support so much!! I have a layout to show you today. Echo Park sponsored us over at Glue Arts this month with their Wintertime line and I'm so glad that I got to work with this line. This page actually started out as a card with the "snow fun" title...and then I decided to keep adding on and create a page instead. I'm glad I did, because I like how it turned out! :)
Don't you love that font? Those are the Wintertime stickers. I wish they had an alpha font like that! I added the little mitten stickers to a piece of twine to dangle them from the title and popped them up with Glue Arts dimensional adhesive. I love adding a slight bit of dimension to my work. I lost the mittens while creating the page. Literally, it took me about 1/2 hour to find them. Guess where they were? On the BACK of my chair! I have no idea how they got there! I had to find them, so I could execute the "hanging mittens" on my title! :)

This is a picture of Kati when she was 3. She didn't like to go out in the snow for awhile because it was so deep and hard to walk in, but this day she was enjoying the sled ride! If you'd like to see the step-by-step details how to create this page, stop over to Glue Arts later today for a tutorial!

I also have a fun give-away...

How about a $50 gift card to Glue Arts! We could all use some free adhesive, right? Just leave me a note and tell me, have you tried Glue Arts adhesive, if so which kind is your favorite? I will choose a winner by Sunday, Jan. 16th.

i've got some news...

Have you been to the Crate Paper blog this week? If so, you might have seen my big mug over there. I'm so excited to say I've been chosen as a CP girl!!

And this sneak....ohhhh, I can't wait to see their new collections. Restoration was one of my fave lines from 2010!

Thanks for letting me share! I know my plate is on full overload, but it's always fun to try something new. :)

I'll be back tomorrow with a new layout and a tutorial to show you!

Hugs,
Danielle

pockets, veneer and resin...

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been posting much lately. Have been so, so busy with projects. I mailed a bunch of things off Friday for a manufacturer that I haven't worked with before and I can't wait to show you my things! I made 3 more cards with the Jan. Jenni Bowlin kits that I want to share with you really quick. These kits are packed full with things I love...wooden frames, embossed resin, little pockets....I could go on and on!

This little wooden frame is a veneer frame by Studio Calico. I used a Jenni Bowlin paint dauber called Soap Powder to dress it up. I just rubbed it over the frame lightly, allowing some of the frame to show through to create a worn look. The black damask is an exclusive Jenni Bowlin paper made just for this kit. When I was almost finished with the card, I decided the tag in the pocket was too white, so I brushed another paint dauber called Malted Milk over it to tone it down. The little pockets are Melissa Frances, aren't they cute!
On the Thanks card, I used the Basic Grey doily in the kit and stenciled over it with the Malted Milk paint dauber to create a fun background for a card. The black alphas looked a little stark, so I added some softness to them by zig zag stitching over them.
I added one of the Pink Paislee Artisan circles and a bingo star. Love these! Blue floss is from my stash.
The background on this next one is a paper from Studio Calico's Elementary line. I dressed up another little pocket and tucked a butterfly punched with my Sizzix butterfly die behind the pocket.
Jenni now sells vintage book paper like the one I used here. I folded it up and tucked it in the pocket. Wouldn't it be fun to add a special note for someone on the book paper?
The rest of the gallery by the team should be up sometime today! I loved the soft blues, greens and yellows of this month's kits!
